Offerings of Flame

Offerings of Flame sells custom made candles which can be used as offerings to any of the gods worshiped in the Bazaar of the Gods. It’s most well known for its jovial owner Michael Aember – universally hailed, facetiously, as Father Aember, for few could ever tell you what form (if any) of salvation he adheres to, and many suspect he views the entire circus surrounding his shop as little more than entertainment.

His candles, many containing some amusing surprise waiting to be released as they burn, are immensely popular with the commoners and visitors who make their way to the Bazaar. The candles are sold primarily to be used as burnt offerings to the numerous, ever-changing, shrines that clutter the area. Some release aromatic delights. Some, colored smoke which dances as it burns. Some, religious chants. All are designed to illustrate the utmost piety of the worshiper burning it. Some grumble that it’s a mocking piety, for those in on the joke. Some grumble, but many think it. Michael, for his part, always laughs it off, saying his candles would never serve to mock ones faith, and each shrine where they are burned is surely deserving of these extravagant offerings. Needless to say – he is loved by the common folk, but counts few of the surrounding priests as friends. However, more times than not, a parishioner in the surrounding shrines will begin his prayers by lighting a candle from Offerings of Flame.
